Universal Studios obligates new employees to sign a contract that requires them to pay money and to be represented by a union rep. After the first 4 months of working as a slave,..."probationary Period," the union rep can't do anything and is completely powerless to prevent the employee from being fired. In actuality, the union rep is a butt buddy with the supervisors at Universal so they can scam a little bit of extra money on the side from their employees. When is the last time Universal made a good movie? Pffft. Anyway, while Esteban your manager from guest relations and the German Hitler youth Union representative screw over the workers, Universal can go fuck themselves by stealing an extra buck before they get bought out again by comcast or the next highest bidder.

Did you know that you're not allowed to be a Hassidic jew and work as an intern for color force? Should have thought of that before I went in for an interview.

Life was better when I was unemployed and more than broke than it is now as an assistant working 45+ hours a week and still more than broke. And my boss just lit a match in his office...

45 hours a week? Shoot I work 65. No overtime. Less than minimum wage. No benefits. Kill me.

Universal Studios might as well hire Safeway security guard to be the new Head of Security.

I worked at Showtime Networks, as an indefinite Temp for over a year. I was placed by a+ The Employment Co. Mary & Adrianna, Human Resources would walk by me sitting in the reception area and say, "We love you". I smiled. I am a college graduate in her forties making $12/hr no benefits. No good for morale when Thanksgiving weekend rolls around and you realize you're only getting paid for three days that week. I was hopeful that I could get a permanent full-time gig once they saw how I worked...little did I know the game.

I ended up sitting at three executives desks, cleaning out the horrible, messes, trash the former assist left behind. Collecting resumes, making appointments, & to add insult to injury: training the new assist (in her twenties, no job experience) and then sent to another exec's desk to hold the phones until another assist was placed. The buck stopped when I was asked to cover the presidents desk over xmas. I told a+ I needed $25/hr to continue to be an "indefinite temp" with Showtime. I was asked to leave, my assignment was ended. a+ tried to block my Unemployment saying that I quit. Showtime, who loves me passed me over for two assist positions, and was paying out $25/hr for me, but I was only getting $16/hr now, a+ was making $9/hr off me without my consent. When an employer says they love you, say, "Don't tell me show me - pay me what I'm worth."

Now I work in a kitchen and love what I do.

Al Bazzy and Jason Morgan of "Varuna Entertainment" stole thousands of dollars from Discovery for Pawn Queens and CMT for Trick My Truck by creating fake vendors and billing for non-existent services. It was so depressing working for them and seeing them screw over the participants on their show by not properly fixing their vehicles as they laughed all the way to the bank. Even more depressing is the shows sucked so bad that no one will ever notice or care about their crimes. The excellent part is that these two miserable human beings will never make it big. Shout out to their chief partner in crime accountant, Liz Marfia!

I absoutly love all of the stories I am reading. I work in the business on and off since 1994. I am 1 degree of separation of hollywood's elite. If your making more than $12.00 per hour your doing better than the interns. this is the business work your ass of for little to no money, however if your in a union they can't do crazy to you, fight it.

I have heard stories about universal for years, and believe it's consistent that they abuse their minions horribly. I want to offer a suggestion, the way to go is that $12.00 hour job if your serious can lead to a personal assistant gig, that is the meal ticket.

God Damnit, It's impossible to get the job I want and meanwhile J.J. Abrams is directing Star Wars. Can this industry get any worse?

Entertainment Tonight. not only is it one of the worst shows ever put on the air, but they treat most of their "below the line" employees like garbage. PAs work like dogs only to make $8 to $9 an hour with no benefits, interns are taken advantage of and treated like slaves, there's barely any room for growth unless you're liked by the right pretty blond people at the top, lay offs are rampant unless, again, you're liked by the right people, and on and on.

just an all around idiotic, egocentric, favoritism-orientated show. Greedy and uncaring and vain and shallow. In Hollywood? Who would have thought?

i got a good one ... unemployed, second time in my career that has been longer than 8 months. got fed up with it, and send a "you want me to park cars, ill park cars" type email to a producer i really look up to. he was all impressed, and set up a meeting with his CE to interview me. the CE had the exact same background as me, same degree, same college, same everything ... he was so threatened by me, i couldnt even get a free intern position after 6 years in the inudstry ... this shit sucks

If one more sleazy old male producer tries to proposition me I’m going to throw his ass on TMZ. Just because I’m young and pretty doesn’t mean you can get away with unprofessionalism. That is all.

I am so sick of people telling me I am over qualified for the position! Since when are you too good to do a job? Clearly if I am applying is because I just want to get the job they are offering. So frustrating.

You wanna know what modern day slavery sounds like? Work as a Production Assistant on a conflict talk show. It's one of the hardest jobs you'll ever have--between toothless guests yelling at you for more food or more clothes or whatever else your boss promises them to get them on a plane and producer's egos.....you aren't sure what's worse. Conflict show PA's work anywhere from 60-100 hours per week. And good luck finding a job at a CBS or Disney or whatever your dream was....because the industry doesn't take trash tv shows seriously. Literally. Someone laughed in my face the last time I told them that I dealt with baby mama drama. We roll calls, manage expenses, schedule travel, get our producers coffee by 8:04 AM all while trying to maintain our sanity just like every other assistant out there.

Oh, my goodness, this is horrible! Thank you all for opening my eyes. I will remain an indie filmmaker forever, because I not work for a degenerate abuser in a studio for $12 an hour. How can anyone live with such pittance - it is abuse and slavery. The California Dept of Labor Relations needs to be in the loop, and this will desist.
