Thank You

The headline I'd always hoped I'd see is finally here.  Let's mark the day, October 10, 2012.  Actually there have been two headlines I've always wanted to see, but when Mark Felt came out as Deep Throat, I was down to one.  And here it is...

Yep.  A blog about being a miserable underling in Hollywood sold to CBS, "America's Most Watched Network."™ The only problem is that it's not my blog.

Yep.  Bummer.

Rather than launch into a booze-fueled pity party, I've decided to take a different approach.  Maybe it's the whiskey talking, but I'd like to thank all of you for your thoughts today.  People I've never met and will probably never meet took the time to send notes on Facebook and Twitter just saying they support me and wish me the best.

Hollywood is a rough town and typically nobody gives a shit about anyone but themselves (or what's left of the surgically-augmented version of themselves).  But for just a fleeting moment, it seemed that I've found a group of people who are honest and caring.  So while it appears Fred Savage will never produce anything I write, at least I have that.

And now, back to drinking.

I was surprised myself - I always found this blog to have more substance and sarcastic wit. Thank you.

What a writer said at a panel I once attended: "Also, for you new writers. Do you have that script where a young PA or assistant is sinking underneath egos, trying to live the glamorous life, but struggling to make ends meet? Yea, I bet you do. So does every other PA, assistant, and reader out there. Do yourself a favor- scrap it. It shows you're unoriginal."

....now that guy seems like an asshole.

Read a 30 pg. pilot script/ "writing sample" out by that Lauren chick about a girl who lives & works in a bridal shop in WeHo. It was crazy horrible & very unfunny. How the hell is she getting anything produced?

First, I 'ppreciate the ZZ Top rocking out on my computah right now. Second, the chick who wrote that shit was kinda' hot - her path to success in this mindless and superficial bullshit industry was paved in gold. Your path was paved in shit because you had shit together and it was tight, you just didn't have pussy to jumpstart the ride. Third, I raise my glass to all the fucked over assistants, temps, lost causes and dreamers in this industry. I am one of you. Still fighting the good fight. The folks that run this town are mostly fucktarded power-hungry and heartless. Stay the course, Che. Anonymous, out.

I always thought your blog would make a great movie. I'm sorry it didn't happen, but keeping work on this blog. It's really funny. Can I request more entries of the Hollywood Dictionary, and the game where you had us figure out which story was true, and which were lies? Best of luck!
